What Your Table Says About You | The Art Of Tablescaping

It must have been said somewhere; A meal and the people you share it with are more satisfying when you’re sitting at a table that welcomes you and your dish. Feng shui of food, I think the ancient Chinese missed this one. If an individual can harmonize with the environment around them, they can also inspire harmony in their meal and in the people gathered to share it.

Tablescape – (combining the words table and landscape) to carefully set your table in the design you desire, which is conducive to the feeling you want to inspire in your meeting. Be it family, friends, colleagues, someone special or just someone special.

Below are the top 5 ways to take your desk to the next level. and inspire a complete experience to be shared over a meal.

1 – Set the mood with a color scheme and theme

Depending on the occasion, the weather and the time, harmony can be achieved between you and your environment immediately. Think about a romantic dinner – the first thing that comes to mind; the color red, candles/roses and light dessert, but that’s for the bedroom ;).

Think about a family lunch – what could make for happy or fun moments that inspire interesting conversations? Clear and fun cores to complement the scenery.

As for dinner – deeper, darker tones would give just the right vibes to match the night sky. You can never go wrong with an all-white setup here, either.

The holidays, of course, will have their own theme. But you don’t have to wait for Thanksgiving or any holiday. to style your table and set the stage for your friends and family.

2 – It’s all about aesthetics

Feed the eyes the same way you feed the belly. A centerpiece, which can consist of a set of candles, a vase, flowers that match your color scheme, or all of them combined. Preferably not too high, you don’t want to block the view of people on the other side. A centerpiece can also be the main attraction on a stand-out platter. Are you eating homemade or gourmet food? Different from the vibration of your environment. Classic white plates to highlight your colorful meal. Or printed/embroidered crockery to complement your food.

3 – Invite nature

Fresh flowers, tree branches, or nature-scented candles are perfect for taking cues from the outdoors. Sometimes a meal can last longer than expected, especially if everyone is having fun. Keep it light and fresh with little reminders of nature. A centerpiece is what generally encompasses the nature aspect, but if you run out of space on your table, a few scattered objects or leaves can help a lot.

4 – Less is more

Tablescaping doesn’t have to be much. or you can do everything whenever you feel like it. You definitely want to do something to show the people around the table that they are special to you, as special as the meal you prepared for them. Always be careful to leave enough space for food and dishes. Make sure your guests have enough space to move things around if necessary. Plus, the less clutter, the more you’ll be able to see your beautiful table or tablecloth.

5 – Fundamentals are fundamental and one in all

Starting with the base – if your table isn’t very pretty, fear not, the mighty tablecloth is here. But if you have a nice rustic wooden or glass table that you want to display, keep it empty. Try to place a centerpiece next. This will allow you to take advantage of how much space you have on your desk. Placemats, napkins and coasters are next. Then the crockery – plates, cutlery and glasses. Last but least, your custom touches and decor. These are light items and can be saved for last once the heavy items have been placed. Ornaments, candles and flowers/petals can now be placed, followed by napkins on top or beside the plates, artistically folded if desired. Finally, and drum roll, of course. Don’t forget the food!

A table setting is an opportunity for your artistic side to shine and can be a welcoming hug for your guests. Experiment and see what works best for you.
